Congratulations to Volkswagen who "leaked" two Super Bowl ads this week on YouTube with great success! The Volkswagen Passat ad (below) had over 6 million hits as of this Friday afternoon. Imagine the hits it will get between now and the Superbowl with the additional buzz.
What makes this commercial so great? Well, “The Force,” features a little kit who is dressed like Darth Vadar to tries to work the Force on the family dog, the washing machine, and a doll. As the powerful Star Wars music plays in the background, the Force doesn't seem to be working. So, the kid tries again on his dad's Passat as it's being parked in the driveway. And, it works! (Little does he know that his dad is using his key to remote control the car.)
Watching this makes me proud to be a Volkwagen owner. The ad combines a favorite movie with a car I like and it brings a smile to my face. Great job!
Internet and social sites are a great combination to launch an effective marketing strategy. Most of us grew up watching TV ads to know what toys or clothes were on the trend then. But now that TV ads are no longer viewed on our home television alone, we can watch 'em on our computer screen no matter how many times we would love to view it. Ads like this, is just one of those best ads that we would love to share to our peers. To the least, we share the joy we felt when we view them.
